Supporting the community
Alton Community Events Group has gone from strength to strength over the years and due to the generous and ongoing support of our events, we have been able reinvest any surplus funds made back into the community.
In the past, it has enabled us to not only purchase new swings for the children’s playground but also to commission the manufacture of the village beacon, which was first lit as part of the late Queen’s Jubilee celebrations. In addition, we have also been able to invest in equipment such as gazebos, marquees, a catering quality BBQ and apple crusher, all of which are available for use by local organisations at no charge.
To put on events, we are required to hold public liability insurance, which is one of our largest yearly expenses. We are currently insured for a liability of £10 million, and the policy includes the ability to insure other local community events besides our own. We can therefore make our insurance available to other local groups putting on events such as the Alton Trail Runners.
As well as our many volunteers, we have a dedicated core team of around ten people who work well together, have a broad spectrum of experience to share, and who are always willing to help and offer support and advice for your local event or group.
